Mariah Murphy, M.Ed., LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Mariah is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who holds bachelor's degrees in psychology and sociology from West Virginia University and a Master's degree in School Counseling from Liberty University. She is currently obtaining her doctorate in psychology. For several years Mariah worked with juveniles in a correctional facility and found joy in seeing students meet their goals. Mariah also possess experience in addressing complex trauma in both individual and group therapy settings. With a background in school counseling Mariah has a knowledge of therapeutic approaches effective for ages from early childhood through adulthood. Mariah approaches therapy with a person-centered lens, providing care that is respectful and responsive to each individual.
Elizabeth Gray, M.Ed.
pre-doctoral intern
Elizabeth is a pre-doctoral intern at The Psychology Loft and is completing her doctorate at Duquesne University’s School Psychology PsyD program. Her program focuses on understanding the development of children and adolescents to enhance the well-being of youth and their families.
Elizabeth has completed various field placements in public school settings performing psychoeducational evaluations, providing counseling services, consulting with school teams and families, and implementing other evidence-based interventions. Through these experiences Elizabeth has had the opportunity to service children, families, and school systems from diverse backgrounds and with unique strengths and needs. Additionally, Elizabeth’s training and professional experiences have had a focus on early childhood populations and children with autism spectrum disorders and/or behavioral concerns. Elizabeth also has a special interest in the impact of trauma on development.
Elizabeth believes that all children deserve to live happy and fulfilling lives. She takes a patient and thorough approach to understand the unique experiences, viewpoints, strengths, and concerns of the children and families that she services. In this way, Elizabeth hopes to create a nurturing, collaborative, and understanding environment that allows her clients to feel heard and supported.
Denaya Brown, Ed.S., NCSP
pre-doctoral intern
Denaya is a predoctoral intern working toward her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in School Psychology at Duquesne University. She previously earned her Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Psychology from Edinboro University and has spent the past four years working as a school psychologist in public school systems. Before entering the field of psychology, Denaya was a secondary educator for five years in both general education public schools and approved private settings for students with emotional and behavioral needs.
Denaya brings a wide range of clinical and educational experience to her work, having trained in public school settings, approved private schools for children with emotional disturbance, approved private schools for children with autism, and jail facilities serving juvenile populations. She has worked with children and adolescents from preschool through twelfth grade and has a special interest in supporting students with complex, intersecting needs—such as co-occurring diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and ADHD, genetic conditions, traumatic brain injury (TBI), or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Denaya’s treatment approach is person-centered and individualized, drawing from a variety of evidence-based modalities to best meet each client’s needs. She has a particular interest in emotion-focused therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and attachment-based interventions. Denaya is especially passionate about increasing access to high-quality assessment and mental health services for underserved populations. She is committed to honoring each client’s unique identity and lived experience, striving to create a supportive and inclusive space where individuals feel empowered to lead their own journey toward healing and growth.
Jordan French, M.A.
pre-doctoral intern
Jordan is a pre-doctoral intern at The Psychology Loft and is pursuing her doctorate at William James College’s Clinical Psychology PsyD program. Within her program, she concentrates in work with children and their families to promote positive developmental trajectories.
As part of her graduate training, Jordan has completed field placements in public school and outpatient settings performing neuropsychological evaluations, providing therapy, and consulting with school teams and families. Her clinical work emphasizes a comprehensive approach to assessment and treatment, aiming to support children and their families across all areas of life. Additionally, Jordan holds a specific interest in working with children with anxiety and has provided intensive evidence-based treatment to youth with significant anxiety and OCD-related disorders.
Jordan strives to support children and families in reaching their full potential. Using a curious and nonjudgmental approach, she collaborates with families to form a deeper understanding of lived experiences, areas of concern, and individual strengths. Through this process, Jordan hopes to provide the knowledge and skills each person needs to be successful.
